Tottenham feel keeping their £25m player is actually more important than sticking with Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur have a lot of work to do in the coming months.

Spurs have made it into the semi-finals of the Europa League and are the favourites to get past Bodo/Glimt and reach the final.

Winning the competition will make everyone forget how poor they have been in the Premier League this season, and it could even save Ange Postecoglou’s job.

But, keeping the Australian is not the absolute priority for Tottenham after the end of the season.

Dejan Kulusevski’s stance on new Tottenham contract

Tottenham completed the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski for around £25 million after a successful 18-month loan spell (Standard).

The Swede is one of Spurs’ best players, and he has been one of the few shining lights in what has otherwise been a very dull season.

There has been a lot of speculation over Kulusevski’s future at Tottenham recently, with reports claiming that he could leave the club.

Now, GiveMeSport have shared the latest on the situation.

The report has claimed that Kulusevski is ‘seeking clarification’ from Spurs about their intent to bring in ‘exciting reinforcements’ in the summer.

Postecoglou’s future is also said to have a bearing on the Sweden international’s plans.

It has further been claimed that winning the Europa League this season would help convince Kulusevski to stay, and the decision makers at the club ‘have pinpointed keeping him as of more significance than sticking with Postecoglou‘.

Two clubs are hoping that Kulusevski will push for Tottenham exit

On his day, Kulusevski is one of the best players in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old can play anywhere in attack, and he has shown this season that he can contribute to goals and assists regularly – he has 20 direct goal contributions already this term.

That has alerted many clubs, and the report claims that AC Milan and Napoli are hoping that Kulusevski will ‘agitate for a switch’ once this season comes to a close.

But, Daniel Levy has no interest in letting Kulusevski go and views him as a key part of Tottenham’s plans for the coming years.

Kulusevski’s current contract at Tottenham expires in the summer of 2028.
