Moussa Sissoko has changed Tottenham Hotspur fans’ perception of him over the course of the past season. And now he appears to have a role helping new boy Tanguy Ndombele settle in.
In a video posted on Tottenham’s official Twitter account, Sissoko interviewed Ndombele and they discussed a number of topics. One of them was Ndombele’s English skills. Sissoko asked his France team-mate how English lessons were going, joking that he was ‘tired of being your translator’.
Sissoko has clearly been helping Ndombele settle in at Tottenham. It is not easy taking the plunge and leaving your home country to pursue your career abroad – especially when you are a 22-year-old who does not speak English.
But Sissoko has been on hand to make sure Ndombele understands everyone while he brushes up on his English language. This new role shows that Sissoko’s importance has grown both on and off the field of play.
Ndombele and Sissoko: Blossoming partnership on and off the field?
It is clear that Ndombele and Sissoko are friends off the field. Their interaction in the interview suggested as much and they know each other from international duty. But this now needs to translate onto the pitch.
Ndombele and Sissoko both play in midfield and have the potential to form a strong partnership. With Ndombele’s ability on the ball and Sissoko’s engine, Spurs have two players who complement each other well. This might be a factor when Mauricio Pochettino selects his team.
