Tottenham Hotspur have changed their mind about Hugo Lloris.

After initially hoping that he would not need an operation, the club have performed a U-turn. As per the latest update on the official club website, Lloris has undergone surgery on his left elbow.

The Frenchman landed awkwardly in a Premier League game against Brighton recently, conceding a goal after dropping the ball on his line. Since he has been out, Paulo Gazzaniga has taken the number one spot and Michel Vorm has been re-signed as a back-up.

Lloris has had extensive tests on his elbow and the club have decided that he needs surgery. The elbow is still unstable after he suffered ligament damage last month.

Despite the update saying Lloris is due to return to training in early 2020, fans are worried. Lloris will now have to undergo rehabilitation to ensure he makes a full recovery.

The 32-year-old might not play again this season, some Tottenham fans fear. This is a serious operation that will take time to recover from. Here are some tweets after the official update.
