Micky van de Ven’s wonder goal in the Champions League has been the talk of the town at Tottenham, and now Gareth Bale has given his take.
The Tottenham Hotspur legend scored some magical goals during his time in North London, but even he would have been proud of the Dutch defender’s powerful run.
Van de Ven could win the Puskas, and if he were to win the award, he would be the third player from Spurs to get it, after Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min.
Now, Bale has been speaking about the 24-year-old’s 68-meter dribble against Copenhagen, and it’s fair to say that he was impressed.

Gareth Bale compares Micky van de Ven’s goal to his San Siro strike
Gareth Bale has compared Micky van de Ven’s recent goal in the Champions League to his first goal at the San Siro in 2010.
Like Van de Ven, the Welsh winger picked up the ball inside his own half, gallivanted past several Inter defenders and fired his effort past Julio Cesar.
The former Tottenham star recalled how Van de Ven also produced a similar moment against Man United last season to assist Brennan Johnson.
Following that assist at Old Trafford, Gary Neville actually likened Van de Ven to Bale, given his powerful running action.
“He had the space, it’s all about the space, the space is there. He’s done this before, right? He did it against Man United for an assist,” Bale told CBS Sports.
When asked how many times he did the same throughout his career, he added: “Yeah, a few times. That’s what we’ve been saying all night, and it only takes a centre-back.”
The four-time Champions League winner was shown his memorable goal from the San Siro, to which he responded by claiming: “It’s a similar goal (to Van de Ven’s).”
Micky van de Ven not included in Champions League Team of the Week
Rather shockingly, Van de Ven has not been included in the Champions League Team of the Week, despite his superb goal and clean sheet.
Even without his goal, Van de Ven managed 78 touches, completed 67 passes, made two clearances and one block.
Instead, Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto, Robin Koch from Frankfurt and PAFOS defender Derrick Luckassen all made it into the team over him.
