Tottenham fans want Joachim Andersen signed, after he starred against Spurs for Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur made it three wins from three on Thursday night as they squeezed past Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage thanks to an own goal from Tosin Adarabioyo – and Spurs fans have urged their club to sign one of Fulham’s players this summer.

Dele Alli was handed a rare Premier League start, just his second of the season – having started against Everton in the first league outing of the campaign – combining with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale for the first time.

The quartet combined well. The England midfielder was heavily involved in the only goal of the game, flicking a pass towards goal – only for Adarabioyo to inadvertently deflect the ball into the back of the net. Spurs were lucky, but won the match.

Indeed, Fulham had a shout for a penalty in the first half. Davinson Sanchez’s woeful clearance hit Mario Lemina, and Fulham scored – but the ball hit the Southampton loanee on the arm, and VAR ruled the goal out. Questionable, but they are the rules.

Plenty of Fulham players impressed despite losing 1-0. Scott Parker has got his side playing superbly, well above the position they currently find themselves in. Ademola Lookman was crucial to that, and he has been excellent throughout the campaign.

Left-back Antonee Robinson gave Matt Doherty a troublesome evening, but it was captain Joachim Andersen that caught the eye of Spurs fans. Currently on loan from French club Lyon, the Denmark international has donned the captain’s armband.

You can see why. Coming up against Harry Kane, he was excellent – limiting the England skipper to only a couple of chances and while Kane should have scored a header in the first half, Andersen was excellent, giving Kane a proper battle.

The 24-year-old is likely to return to Lyon in the summer if Fulham go down, and even if Fulham stay up, he may return to Lyon as a possible contender to be in and around the senior side. Spurs, meanwhile, desperately need centre-back additions.

Eric Dier has been dropped, Joe Rodon continues to be overlooked and Sanchez is only playing – many believe – due to his pace. The ex-Ajax man made another mistake on Thursday night and only VAR’s decision saved him from the potential blunder.

Milan Skriniar was a target in the summer but a move fell through, before Spurs chose to sign Rodon. Andersen, then, might just be the ideal signing for Spurs in the coming months – given he cost Lyon just £21million (LWOS) in the summer of 2019.

Fulham do not have a permanent clause in his loan deal, meaning he is expected to return to Lyon. If Fulham stay up, they might be tempted to sign him – but it all depends on Lyon’s price. If Tottenham come calling, you would say they have a better chance.

Tottenham fans watched on on Thursday night and having been impressed by Andersen, many urged their club to consider a move for the ex-Sampdoria defender this summer – if Parker’s men fail to stay up.
