Tottenham fans want Erik Lamela to start against Dortmund

Tottenham Hotspur take on Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night in the Champions League at the Westfalenstadion with a 3-0 aggregate lead – and Spurs fans want Erik Lamela to start the match.

Spurs come into the Champions League last 16 clash with a big advantage. Goals from Son Heung-min, Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente saw Tottenham earn a comfortable win at Wembley.

But since the win in Europe, things have not been great at Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino has seen his side lose to Burnley and then to Chelsea, before drawing against north London rivals Arsenal.

With only three days rest following the 1-1 draw against the Gunners on Saturday, Spurs could make changes as they face Southampton in the Premier League this weekend – which sees Pochettino face his old side.

That may see Pochettino give fellow countryman Lamela a chance from the off. The Argentina international has been made to wait regularly, and he was a substitute in Saturday’s derby.

But the former AS Roma star has started just one of Spurs’ last five outings. He deserves a chance if Pochettino is to make a change to his side and freshen things up. Indeed, Spurs fans are keen to see Lamela start.
