Tottenham fans want Erik Lamela back in the XI against Manchester City

Tottenham face Manchester City tomorrow in the Carabao Cup final – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have asked for Erik Lamela to be named in the starting XI.

Spurs are preparing for their biggest game of the season, as they are potentially just 90 minutes away from winning their first piece of silverware since the League Cup back in 2008.

Jose Mourinho’s sacking earlier in the week came as a massive shock. However, interim boss Ryan Mason will have the privilege of leading the north London club at Wembley Stadium.

Despite the fact Man City are strong favourites to win the cup final, it’s worth noting that Spurs did win a Premier League fixture between the two sides 2-0 earlier in the season.

A selection of Spurs fans on social media want to see Argentine Lamela start for them.

The £25million (Independent) attacker was used as a substitute in midweek during Mason’s game in charge, but plenty want his aggression from the start tomorrow.

He’s a left-footed playmaker that is capable of special moments on his day, and he plays on the edge sometimes with his no-nonsense approach.

But there are plenty of options in the forward areas that will be desperate for a place in the starting line up.
