Tottenham fans want Eric Dier back against Burnley

Tottenham host Burnley on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have demanded that midfielder Eric Dier is recalled to the starting XI.

Spurs suffered their first defeat under Jose Mourinho in midweek, as they lost 2-1 at Old Trafford against his former team Manchester United.

The North London club had won three on the spin in all competitions since Mourinho’s arrival, but he now needs to find a response from his team against Burnley.

Dier started the first three games of the Mourinho reign, albeit he was sacrificed as a first-half substitute against Olympiakos in the Champions League.

The 25-year-old dropped to the bench against Manchester United and would be a fresh option going into the weekend.

But whether the Portuguese boss yet knows his best midfield remains to be seen and he needs to try get settled in the centre of the park.

Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko struggled as a midfield pairing against Manchester United, which is why the likes of Dier, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso may see a way in.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media are convinced that Dier should be back in the team against Burnley and are debating who is ideal partner is for the midfield.

The Englishman is someone being tipped to play an important role under Mourinho and just needs to try recapture his top form.
