Tottenham host London rivals Fulham on Wednesday evening in the Premier League – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded by urging manager Jose Mourinho to start Erik Lamela.

Spurs go into the midweek fixture off the back of just two points from their previous four league matches, but know that a win will lift them up to third in the division table.

Meanwhile, Fulham can move out of the relegation places with a victory on Wednesday and they’ve drawn their last four consecutive league matches to show their competitive edge.

Spurs managed a 1-1 draw away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday and a few days later desperately need three points against Fulham.

Mourinho’s side were right in the mix a few weeks ago as being the closest title challengers to defending champions Liverpool, but they’ve lost a lot of momentum recently and would hate to end their final game of 2020 with a disappointment.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media have suggested that Mourinho considers freshening his team up, with one claiming that star attacker Heung-Min Son could do with a rest.

With Leeds United coming just three days later in the next league game, perhaps there may be a temptation to add some fresh legs.

Lamela is someone that Spurs fans want to see involved in midweek and he’s recently returned from a calf problem to add strength to depth in attacking areas.

The 28-year-old right-winger has started just two league matches all season, but he’s proven on his day to be a dangerous attacking option and he always plays with brilliant aggression.
