Tottenham fans urge Jose Mourinho to select Erik Lamela against Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to put their FA Cup disappointment behind them as they travel to Lancashire to take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday evening – and Spurs fans are desperate to see an attacker recalled against Sean Dyche’s side.

Lamela, 28, has managed just three starts in 2020 under Mourinho. The Argentina international is certainly not first choice but has been used five times as a substitute since his last start, and impressed against Norwich on Wednesday.

Spurs have been in poor form of late, losing to Wolves and Chelsea in the Premier League, losing to Leipzig in the Champions League and then being knocked out in The FA Cup. Something needs to change.

Lamela came on in the 70th minute against Norwich on Wednesday for Lucas Moura and although he was supposed to play just 20 minutes, going into extra time saw the £80,000-a-week midfielder (Spotrac) clock up 50 minutes in total.

In that time, he impressed. Showing more tenacity than the likes of Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn, Lamela made things happen in the final third of the match and was unlucky not to score – which his efforts deserved.

Surely his endeavours will have paid off come Saturday evening though, that is if Spurs’ supporters wishes come true. Many are desperate to see the former Roma attacker start at Turf Moor.
