Tottenham have confirmed the exit of goalkeeper Michel Vorm – and some of the club’s supporters have praised him for his commitment to the North London outfit.

Spurs have announced (official website) that the 35-year-old has now departed and is a free agent.

The Dutchman joined back in 2014 from Swansea City and in that time has made 47 appearances, keeping 17 clean sheets in return.

He found himself as the third-choice option in net this campaign, with Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga ahead of him in the pecking order.

Vorm has been a strong back-up option during his five years at Spurs and impressed in English football with Swansea beforehand.

Vorm played just four times for the first team across all competitions in the most recent season and an exit at the end of his contract this summer makes sense.

It will be intriguing to see who will take a punt on him on a free transfer.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino can now rely on excellent understudy Gazzaniga to World champion Lloris, but perhaps the club should look at bringing in another goalkeeper to spice up competition next season.
