Tottenham fans seething over Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to drop Son Heung-Min

Mauricio Pochettino decided to drop Son Heung-Min.

Tottenham Hotspur’s patchy form continued with a 2-1 loss at Southampton last weekend. Relegation-threatened Southampton fought back from a goal down to beat Tottenham at The St Marys’ Stadium on Saturday.

Harry Kane had given Tottenham the lead before late goals from Yan Valery and James Ward-Prowse turned the game on its head.

But before the game, Tottenham fans were furious with Mauricio Pochettino’s selection; a decision which appeared to be justified at full-time. Son Heung-Min, who has been one of Tottenham’s best players in recent weeks, was dropped to the bench as Dele Alli returned to the fold.

While Kane was out injured, Son was the man who stepped up, operating out of his natural position by playing as a centre-forward and thriving with the newfound responsibility.

But since Kane’s return, Son has had to work around the England striker. The South Korea international was forced back to the wing before being relegated to the bench last weekend.

Tottenham fans were not happy with Pochettino’s decision to either drop or rest Son. If he was dropped, it made little sense as Son has been in fine form. And if he was rested, that also makes little sense with a lengthy break coming up.

Here is what Spurs fans were saying about Son being benched against Southampton.
