Tottenham fans rue failure to sign Ricardo Pereira as he shines again for Leicester City

Ricardo Pereira scored his second Premier League goal in as many games for Leicester City as the Foxes cruised to a emphatic 5-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon – and Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter.

Portugal international Pereira has been in excellent form as Leicester continue to push for a place in the top six of the Premier League table. Brendan Rodgers’ side sit in third place, after picking up 14 points from just seven league games.

Along with the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu, Pereira has been superb both going forward and in defence. He scored against Tottenham last weekend, before executing a superb solo run with a well-placed left-footed effort.

It gave Leicester the lead against Newcastle, before a Vardy brace, Paul Dummett own goal and Wilfried Ndidi found the back of the net. Tottenham, meanwhile, are lacking in the right-back area – especially after Serge Aurier got sent off on Saturday.

The Ivorian was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Ryan Bertrand, with Kieran Trippier starring at Atletico Madrid. The Independent claim back in the summer of 2017 that Spurs tried to sign Pereira from FC Porto.

The report claims he had a release clause of £22million at Porto, but instead of moving to Spurs, Leicester brought him to the King Power a year later in 2018 and he has since clocked up 45 appearances for Leicester.

Tottenham fans have rued the decision not to sign Pereira on Twitter, after he starred for Leicester again.
