Tottenham fans respond to Paulo Gazzaniga’s comments about Boca Juniors move

Paulo Gazzaniga has been quoted as saying that he is desperate to play for Argentine side Boca Juniors in the future – and Tottenham Hotspur supporters have reacted on Twitter to the goalkeeper’s comments.

Jose Mourinho is expected to make a number of changes to his Tottenham side this summer in order to mount an assault on the Premier League top four next season – in order to keep the likes of Harry Kane satisfied at Spurs.

But that may mean Mourinho has to do some wheeling and dealing. Chairman Daniel Levy is renowned for his tight stronghold on Tottenham coffers, so much so that he has placed staff on furlough this week.

Players who could bring in a transfer fee but are deemed flexible may be told to leave, then, and 28-year-old Gazzaniga could be one of those – given he is back-up to Hugo Lloris. He has told TYC Sports this week that he wants to play for Boca Juniors.

“I am a fan and I would like to play one day at the club,” Gazzaniga said. He also said, though, that he would not move right now. “If Román (Riquelme) calls me today and I know it is him, I will not answer. (Esteban) Andrada is doing a good job.”

Gazzaniga has managed 25 appearances this season, but has only played 37 times for Spurs since joining the club in 2017. With Hugo Lloris back after a dislocated elbow, Gazzaniga has returned to his seat on the bench.

According to ESPN, Spurs only spent £2.5million to sign Gazzaniga and now he could be offloaded with the player keen on a move to Boca in the future. Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to his comments, with many waving goodbye.
