Tottenham fans respond to Mario Mandzukic’s Tweet after he confirms exit

Mario Mandzukic has confirmed on Twitter that he has come to a mutual agreement with Qatar Sports League side Al Duhail to end his contract just six months after joining the club – and Tottenham fans have reacted.

Mandzukic, 34, left Juventus on a free transfer in January to move to the Middle East but after just seven appearances for Al-Duhail – in which he scored only one goal – the striker has confirmed his exit.

The 89-time Croatia international has enjoyed a stunning career that has seen him win German Bundesliga and Serie A titles with Bayern Munich and Juventus. With 497 club appearances to his name, Mandzukic has scored 197 times.

A 2018 World Cup finalist with Croatia, Mandzukic confirmed his exit from a club that also boasts Mehdi Benatia and Han Kwang-song – stating that he and the club had come to a mutual agreement to cancel his contract.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are likely to be in the market this summer for a new striker. Harry Kane obviously remains the club’s first-choice attacker, but like in the January window – Spurs still require back-up.

Spurs fans responded to Mandzukic’s Tweet, urging the newly free agent to move to England for the first time in his career and join the north London club in the coming months.
