Marcus Edwards scored an excellent brace as Vitoria surprised many with an excellent 7-0 win in the Portuguese League over sixth-placed Famalicao – and many Tottenham supporters have reacted to the youngster’s Tweet.

Edwards, 21, is enjoying life in Portugal after leaving Tottenham last summer to chance his arm in a foreign country. Despite being compared to Lionel Messi as a youngster, the England Under-20 international managed just one senior Spurs outing.

He also went on loan to Norwich City while the Canaries were in the Championship, but Edwards only managed one appearance fot the east Anglian side. His contract at Spurs expired last summer.

It saw Edwards take the unusual route to Portuguese football and to Europa League side Vitoria. Edwards has since impressed, clocking up 24 appearances in all competitions – scoring six goals, creating four and even netting against Arsenal.

He posted on Twitter after netting twice in a stunning 7-0 away win for Vitoria. Both came in the second half, his first just after the restart. His deflected effort looped in, after the Famalicao goalkeeper lost the ball.

Edwards doubled his tally in the 79th minute, being flicked through on goal. He rounded the goalkeeper to make it seven, and Spurs fans have reacted to his Tweet (above) – with many congratulating him. Others asked him to return to Tottenham.
