“Where are the new signings?” – Some Tottenham fans react to lack of transfers

As the transfer window enters its final weeks, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make a signing. It is a fact that has drawn the ire of many of their supporters, who see their Premier League rivals spending freely and attracting top talents.

Given last season’s promising campaign that nonetheless ended empty-handed, many believed investment was crucial this summer to give Spurs a real shot at winning their first trophy in over a decade.

However, this summer has not been all doom and gloom for Tottenham. Despite the lack of new arrivals, the club have made the intelligent move of extending the contracts of numerous key parts of the squad.

Harry Kane signed a deal until 2024, Mauricio Pochettino extended his contract to 2023, Harry Winks inked a five-year deal, and Davinson Sanchez extended his stay in north London to 2024.

Keeping the core of the team together is always first on the list of club management, as one must secure the futures of existing players before turning their attention to new arrivals.

However frustrating it may be for supporters, the signing of new deals must nonetheless be applauded– even if they do not bring the same excitement factor as flashy signings.

Yet nonetheless, Spurs supporters expressed their anger at their failure to sign players to date.

In addition, fans noted the change in reports linking Tottenham with some of the world’s best players earlier on in the window, to the likes of Jack Grealish currently.

Despite the prevailing pessimism, some supporters held out hope that Spurs were simply leaving their business late and would attain their top targets.
