Tottenham fans react to Troy Parrott display for Republic of Ireland Under-21s

Troy Parrott started for Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s side on Friday night – and some Tottenham fans praised their player for his international performance.

The Spurs centre-forward scored the only goal of the contest in a 1-0 victory for Ireland against Armenia in a Euro 2021 qualifier.

He’s only a 17-year-old youngster at the early stages of his career, but is playing at the Under-21 age group at international level.

Parrott is yet to make his first-team debut for Spurs, but it surely can’t be too far away as he continues to keep impressing.

The striker has scored frequently at youth level for the North London club and it looks like there may be room for him to squeeze into Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

With Harry Kane the obvious talisman in attack, Spurs allowed Fernando Llorente to exit in the summer and there are no direct replacements.

Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura are versatile attackers that can fill central roles, but they are moor comfortable in wide positions.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media hailed Parrot after his international contribution.

He scored the winning goal with a well-timed run into the penalty area, where he was on hand to tap in a simple finish from close-range.

The striker comes alive in the penalty area and many are desperate to see him get a senior chance under Pochettino soon.
