Watford striker Troy Deeney has been discussing with Talk Sport whether a move to Tottenham was a realistic option during the summer – and supporters have been reacting to his comments.
The Hornets striker was the subject of interest from various clubs throughout the summer but remained at Vicarage Road.
Deeney played just once this season for Watford in a 1-0 win over fierce rivals Luton Town and believes he can still play in the Premier League.
The striker has been at Watford for several years, scoring 133 goals during 399 appearances for the Hornets.
Deeney implied to Talk Sport that he did discuss a move during the summer.
He said: “I saw Jose at the Watford v Spurs game pre-season. That’s all I will say.

“When you get to Spurs you know the difference between the lesser clubs and the big boys. It’s a different experience.
“Their stadium is ridiculous. You want to test yourself as well. I’m not going to go in there and say ‘I’m better than Harry Kane’.
“I know what I can do and there’s not many who can do what I do.”
Deeney could perhaps still do a job at Tottenham but arguably they need better in reserve for Kane.
Signing Carlos Vinicius will have certainly excited Tottenham fans far more than signing Deeney would have done.
The £65,000-a-week Deeney remains at Watford and these comments perhaps suggest he is keen to get back into the top-flight in January.
Following his comments, Tottenham supporters have been reacting on Twitter to what he said on Talk Sport.
