A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans took to Twitter after the 1-1 draw with Everton to comment on Tanguy Ndombele’s performance, with many slamming one of Mauricio Pochettino’s decisions late on in the game.
Spurs are still looking for their first Premier League win since September. They had looked set to end that run, with Dele Alli giving them the lead at Goodison Park. But Cenk Tosun would equalise in stoppage-time for the home side in a game that was overshadowed by the horrific injury sustained by Andre Gomes.
Some Tottenham fans have slammed Pochettino following Everton’s late equaliser. They are struggling to understand the decision to take Ndombele off in the latter stages.
Plenty of supporters felt that the summer signing was actually Spurs’ best player. And he was certainly a lot better than a number of his teammates who either lasted the full game or went off once Everton had equalised.
Ndombele produced a good performance, particularly during the first-half. Whoscored.com shows that no player on the pitch completed more successful dribbles than the 22-year-old. And only the two centre-backs and Moussa Sissoko completed more passes than Ndombele from a Tottenham perspective.
It was a difficult day to take positives from. But Ndombele’s display seemed to provide Spurs fans with one reason for optimism.
But Pochettino’s decision to take him off appears to have left just as many supporters feeling somewhat baffled.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to Ndombele’s display and Pochettino taking him off…
As for the performance. Ndombele was brilliant (and a class above the rest) first half then looked tired in the second. Eriksen was Eriksen. Only positive to take was Dele’s goal. This surely is now the time for Lo Celso to become a starter? Always looked tidy when he’s been on.

People finally seeing why Lucas doesn’t start. Anonymous and abysmal tonight. Ndombele the shining light as usual.

Couldn’t work out why poch took Ndombele off, he was our best player.

Taking off Ndombele was a shocking decision. I’m not gonna lie.

Poch? Why did Eriksen start, why not use you 60m new signings? Why take off Ndombele probably our best player? Game management why when down to 10 didn’t we manage the game bring on Dier? I’m lost ?

Does Poch see something we don’t? Ndombele class again, gets taken off. Eriksen absolutely useless and plays most of the game. ??♂️
