Tottenham fans react to Steven Bergwijn’s performance vs Maccabi Haifa

Tottenham Hotspur are into the draw for the 2020/21 Europa League, after battering Maccabi Haifa 7-2 in north London.

Jose Mourinho’s side made light work of the Israeli outfit, with Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick, Giovani Lo Celso bagging a brace, Lucas Moura scoring a header and Dele Alli converting an injury-time penalty.

It rounds off a great couple of days for the club, after they dumped Chelsea out of the EFL Cup to reach the competition’s last eight on Tuesday.

It was a dominant performance from the hosts, which was most welcome for fans after toiling slightly against Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Shkendija.

Spurs were at it from the off, with Kane tapping in inside two minutes from a Ben Davies cross.

Tjaronn Chery then equalised, but Steven Bergwijn supplied a corner for Lucas Moura to head home.

Lo Celso’s quick-fire double then essentially put the game beyond Maccabi’s reach, but there were more goals to come in the second half.

Nikita Rukavytsya gave the visitors hope, but a handball in the area saw Spurs retake a three-goal lead through Kane from the spot.

One man who really impressed on the night was winger Steven Bergwijn.

The Dutchman – who cost the club a reported £27 million back in January (BBC Sport) – was a threat all night for Maccabi, and his footwork and movement for Kane’s third goal was very impressive.

Not everything came off for him, but he worked extremely hard and many fans were quick to lavish praise on the attacker on social media:
