Tottenham Hotspur star Ryan Sessegnon has posted on Twitter ahead of representing England’s Under-21 side during the international break – and Spurs fans are desperate for him to avoid injury over the next fortnight.
Sessegnon, 19, joined Tottenham for £25million (BBC Sport) in the summer from Fulham, ending speculation over his future that lasted a number of transfer windows. However, he joined with a long-term hamstring injury.
The England youngster made his debut for Tottenham in the final moments of the 1-1 draw against Everton, before playing 15 minutes of Spurs’ 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League. He laid on an assist for Christian Eriksen.
Sessegnon has now been called up to play for the England Under-21’s, facing Albania on Friday in a 2021 European Championships qualifier before a friendly against The Netherlands on November 19. Sessegnon posted on Twitter.
Sessegnon has clocked up 10 England Under-21 appearances throughout his career, but faces plenty of competition to start for Aidy Boothroyd’s side – with Phil Foden, Grady Diangana, Ebere Eze, Reiss Nelson and Mason Greenwood all looking to shine.
Tottenham fans reacted to Sessegnon’s Tweet, urging their summer signing Sessegnon to return to Tottenham injury-free after next Tuesday’s away clash against The Netherlands. The game time could help Sessegnon continue his recovery, though.
