Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga is reportedly in talks over a new deal – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are desperate to see negotiations wrapped up quickly.
The Daily Mail reports that Spurs are in discussions with their highly-rated defender about a fresh contract, which could see his current £1,000-a-week wage shoot up to £15,000-a-week.
It is explained that the North London club have accelerated talks due to his rise into the first-team under Jose Mourinho and they are hopeful of reaching an agreement soon.
The report adds that he could be in line for his first ever call-up to Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21s squad.
Tanganga is a product of the Spurs academy that has risen through the youth ranks and this season nade his breakthrough into the senior group.
The 20-year-old centre-back was picked out by manager Mourinho to join the first-team and he’s now made seven senior appearances this season.
He’s an athletic defender with great pace and power, but has also shown tremendous versatility by slotting in at both full-back positions at times to help cover.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media are convinced that Tanganga is a star in the making and want to sort his future quickly, with some believing he deserves to earn more than the £15,000-a-week deal that has been speculated about.
