Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City defender John Stones – and there has been a mixed response on Twitter to the speculation from some of the club’s supporters.
According to the Express, Spurs and Arsenal are keen on a deal this summer for the 25-year-old, who was previously wanted by manager Jose Mourinho when he was at Stamford Bridge.
The Daily Star claims that the England international could be sold by Manchester City in the summer with his days numbered at the Etihad, plus TEAMtalk reported back in January that Arsenal were eyeing a summer swoop for him and that he could cost £50million.
Stones may be offloaded by Pep Guardiola’s team in the summer, but he’s got an impressive CV at such a young age.
The ball-playing centre-back has won two Premier Leagues, three League Cups and one FA Cup in his club career so far, plus he’s earned 39 senior international caps for England.
He’s been unable to match the potential that Manchester City expected when they splashed £50million to get him from Everton,
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media believe that Stones could add a winning mentality to Mourinho’s squad and improve them defensively.
But on the flip side there are others who don’t feel his form at the Etihad justifies the club spending big on him and believe he would be a risk.
Here are some Spurs fans on the Stones speculation:
Absolutely not. He’s a complete liability.

At 25, the lad has won 2 league titles, and FA cup and 2 league cups. Quality player! Usually paired with the clusterfuck otamendi, which limits even laporte! I’d take him tomorrow.

Would be a superb buy. Only 25. Has won stuff recently. Would bring a different mentality that we need.
