Tottenham fans react to reported interest in Liverpool’s Joe Gomez

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from 90min last week suggesting that Spurs could be interested in Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.

It has been a difficult start to the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s men. They sit 11th in the Premier League table, and only six teams have conceded more goals.

With Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen both out of contract this coming summer (via Football London), Pochettino may soon need to think about overhauling his defensive options.

And it appears that he is already has an eye on Gomez’s situation at Anfield. 90min reports that Spurs, along with Arsenal, would be interested in signing the centre-back if he became available.

The report notes that Gomez has become frustrated at Liverpool, and could consider his future. He has made just three starts this season in all competitions, and appears to be fourth in Jurgen Klopp’s centre-back pecking order.

90min added that Gomez would like to return to London if he does leave Merseyside. So that may prove to be beneficial if Spurs do decide to step up their interest in the 22-year-old.

However, it appears that most Tottenham fans on social media are very sceptical about the rumours. They cannot believe that Liverpool would be interested in selling Gomez. And they certainly cannot see the Reds selling him to Spurs.

The Tottenham supporters may not be getting carried away. But plenty have suggested that they would happily take Gomez if there was any chance that he could make a move.
