Tottenham fans react to reported interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Bas Dost

Tottenham are being linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Bas Dost – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded to the speculation.

The Daily Mail reports that Jose Mourinho’s side are lining up a bid for the striker, as they seek to find cover for England captain Harry Kane.

It is claimed that German top-flight side Frankfurt signed him for £6.5million a year ago and he’s now valued at £5.5million.

The report adds that Spurs failed in an attempt to sign the 31-year-old two years ago, but under new manager Mourinho they have once again put him on their transfer shortlist.

Dost netted 10 goals in 32 games across all competitions last season for Frankfurt and is a target man that could act as a strong understudy to Kane.

He’s an experienced forward that is strong in the air and relies on clever movement around the box, while his career tally of 229 goals in 428 games proves what a deadly finisher he is.

He has played in leagues in Holland, Germany and Portugal, but is not tested in the Premier League despite having the physical attributes.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media have tried to be positive about the latest speculation and one claimed he’d be an upgrade on the club’s former striker Fernando Llorente.
