Tottenham fans react to report that summer targets centre around younger talent

After two transfer windows without a new signing, Tottenham fans will be hoping their club will finally invest in pushing their squad to the next level.

Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are among the players who have precarious contract situations, so the former Ajax men may need to be replaced, before Mauricio Pochettino can even move onto improving his squad in terms of quality and depth.

That lack of depth has seen Tottenham suffer in terms of injuries and stamina over the course of a long, tough season and the move to the new stadium was supposed to move the club onto a new financial plane from which they can compete with the Premier League’s big boys.

And the Guardian reported yesterday a list of the players Spurs have had their eye on with designs on a summer move.

The reported list has a huge emphasis on young talent, including Jack Grealish, Jarrod Bowen, David Brooks, Max Aarons, Kieran Tierney, Sean Longstaff, Harvey Barnes and Hakim Ziyech.

And while there are some promising prospects there, Spurs fans on Twitter want more experienced, established players to help push a team that is on the cusp of being special towards trophies…
