Tottenham fans react to report that Joe Rodon will start against Chelsea
Tottenham defender Joe Rodon will reportedly be given his first start for the club this Sunday – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are excited by the news.
Premier League leaders Spurs have a huge fixture tomorrow away to London rivals and third-placed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but they will be without injured centre-back Toby Alderweireld.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has been very impressed with Rodon in training and is going to start him against Chelsea.
The report explains that the Wales internatonal is going to get the nod ahead of Davinson Sanchez to partner Eric Dier in the heart of the defence.
Rodon completed a move in the summer window from Championship club Swansea City and so far has only made two substitute appearances for Spurs, as he’s not available for the Europa League group stage games.
The 23-year-old centre-back is will reportedly be thrown in for arguably the club’s biggest game of the season so far, which shows how highly he’s rated by Mourinho.
He is a Wales international that has looked impressive in matches for his country and was a rising star in the Championship, but is set to be thrown in at the deep end this weekend.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media are behind the idea of starting Rodon, with one suggesting he can “pocket” Chelsea’s in-form forward Timo Werner.
Here are some Spurs fans discussing Rodon:
He will be a top player for us, start him now his chance has come. I am slightly bias as a Welsh Spurs fan but from what I have seen the last couple of years he will be a great signing!

Good. He literally thinks the same players should play as I do. Sanchez is either going to leave or be class next year.

Well well well. This will be super interesting. Big game for him to be brought in too but I feel like he can do a job and a half. Quite similar to Toby minus the passing foot from what I’ve seen. https://t.co/PejCzEemys
