Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to reports Jose Mourinho contacted Real Madrid president Florentino Perez regarding the availability of Luka Jovic.
According to a report from Defensa Central, the Portuguese contacted his former boss via telephone to get information on the Serbia international.
Spurs are expected to dip into the transfer market following the serious hamstring injured suffered by Harry Kane.
The England captain is looking at missing the rest of the season, meaning Mourinho has no recognised centre-forward with experience under his belt.
Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son have both deputised in the past, but it would be a massive risk for Mourinho to press ahead playing the pair out of position.
Real striker Jovic has endured a tough start to his Bernabeu career, with Karim Benzema Zinedine Zidane’s main man.
The 22-year-old, who cost £53 million last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt (Independent), has made 18 appearances and scored just one goal.
That’s a very disappointing return, although some have argued Zidane’s preference for Benzema isn’t allowing Jovic to build up any momentum or get a proper feel for La Liga.
That said, the Frenchman has enjoyed some great form this term and is justifying his continued selection.
Tottenham fans react
Despite Defensa’s report stating Real aren’t willing to let him leave this winter, a lot of Tottenham fans have embraced the links to Jovic, with few forgetting just how devastating he was for Eintracht last season:
