A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments made by Mauricio Pochettino – and reported by Football London – where he dropped a major hint regarding Spurs’ January plans.
Plenty of supporters are already looking to January as being pivotal in Tottenham’s season. The Champions League finalists sit ninth in the Premier League, and went into the international break having conceded 10 goals in two games.
It does appear that Pochettino may need to conduct a significant overhaul of the squad that came so close to climbing the mountain in Europe last year.
But judging by his comments in his press conference ahead of their clash with Watford this weekend, it would seem that there are no plans to make big changes anytime soon.
“I don’t believe so,” he said, as reported by Football London, when asked about January transfers. “I believe in the players that we have at Tottenham today. If it’s my decision I will stick with my players. They have the quality. We have great quality to fight for the things we expect to fight.”
Pochettino in denial?
It must be noted that some Tottenham fans are hoping that he is simply keeping his cards close to his chest. They believe that Pochettino publicly stating that he wants new signings may send out the wrong message to clubs that may receive bids from Tottenham.
However, the large majority of supporters on social media seem incredibly disappointed. Some have suggested that Pochettino may be in denial about how much needs to change, and it appears to have left some feeling that there has been another major blow dealt to their campaign.
Here is how some of the fans react to Pochettino’s comments…

To say I’m confused , disappointed and more than slightly annoyed is an understatement

This is the best thing to say to the media as it sends out a positive message to the team. Doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s actually what he really thinks and what will really happen…
