Tottenham are reportedly interested in current Ajax manager Erik ten Hag – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are extremely positive about the speculation.

According to the Athletic, Spurs are looking to identify their next manager as one who’s progressive, attack-minded and who favours possession-based football.

It is understood that Ten Hag is a part of a shortlist drawn up by the north London club.

The report adds Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Massimiliano Allegri as possible candidates.

Ten Hag, 51, is in charge at Dutch giants Ajax, who are currently league leaders in the Eredivisie chasing down the title.

He’s been in charge of the Amsterdam club since 2017, earning a reputation as a great manager across European football.

The Dutchman is on the brink of winning a second league title with Ajax, plus he managed the exciting side that went all the way to the Champions League semi-finals back in 2019 before a cruel exit at the hands of Spurs.

Ryan Mason has stepped in as interim boss until the end of the season at Spurs after Jose Mourinho’s sacking, but it sounds like work is already underway to find the next permanent man.

If you read at what Spurs are looking for in their next managerial appointment, Ten Hag ticks a lot of boxes.

He’s been used to play an offensive style of football, as Ajax demand that philosophy as a club. Spurs fans are similar in the way they want their team to play attack-minded football, so it could be a match made in heaven if they can tempt him away from Amsterdam.
