A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments from Jose Mourinho on the future of Kyle Walker-Peters, as reported by Football London.
Walker-Peters looks to be heading for a pivotal summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The right-back left the club on loan during the January transfer window after struggling to force his way into Mourinho’s side.
He has only made a handful of appearances for Southampton so far. But he has shown glimpses of his potential during his time on the south coast.
And his superb performance in the Saints’ win over Manchester City on Sunday has perhaps acted as a catalyst for a further discussion amongst supporters surrounding what the future holds for the 23-year-old.
Some may have expected Spurs to be ready to offload him permanently given that Mourinho has barely used him since his appointment.
But the Tottenham boss seemed to leave the door open for Walker-Peters to come back into the fold upon his return from his loan.
“He’s happy now I think. Playing and playing well. I’m not in control of the transfer decisions but the general feeling is there’s a place for him here,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“But if his desire is to be playing every time and leaving the club in search of happiness I don’t think we’d stop him. He’s a player with a good value in the market but I don’t think we’d stop him doing it.”
The comments appear to have divided some of the fans on social media. Some believe that his days at Spurs are numbered based on how little he has played in the last couple of years.
But others have expressed some hope that Walker-Peters will return and provide cover for the first-choice right-back. In fact, some would much prefer to see Serge Aurier sold.
Here is how some of the supporters reacted to the comments…
Sell Aurier. Sign another RB and have the new guy starting and KWP rotating in when needed

Would love for him to come back, only if he wants to. I wouldn’t blame him for not wanting to stick around after our handling of him

In other words he can go ?

If they love him that much why loan him out and leave us short at RB

Bring back KWP and have him and another RB battle it our for the starting RB spot, like trippier and Walker had going on
