Tottenham fans react to hijacking interest in defender William Saliba

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing defender William Saliba from French top-flight club Saint-Etienne – and some of the club’s supporters are keen for a deal to be wrapped up.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs are in talks with the Ligue 1 side about their French centre-back.

It is understood that Arsenal are close to completing a deal for the 18-year-old that would see him go out on loan next season, so it could be up to the player’s personal choice if Spurs also wrap up a deal.

The report details that Arsenal are closing in on a £27million agreement for the teenager.

Saliba was a breakout star last season and played 19 senior games across all competitions.

He’s come through the youth ranks at the club and made a comfortable step up to the first-team, where he cemented his spot in the XI by the end of the season in the league matches.

The imposing defender is already a big presence at the back with his strength and power, while he’s mature for someone so young.

Saliba looks a real composed defender that is only going to improve and he looks a strong fit for Premier League football.

A selection of Spurs fans are keen to sign the Saint-Etienne prodigy and have admitted it would be a nice opportunity to get one over on their North London rivals, while also add a promising talent to their ranks.
