Tottenham fans react to Giovani Lo Celso’s performance against Antwerp

Tottenham Hotspur fans have praised Giovani Lo Celso for his performance against Royal Antwerp tonight.

Spurs beat their Belgian opposition 2-0 in north London in their final Europa League group stage match, a result that sees them go through to the last 16 as group winners.

The game’s first goal came courtesy of Carlos Vinicius in the second-half – the Brazilian being on hand to tap in after Antwerp stopper Alireza Beiranvand found Gareth Bale’s free-kick too hot to handle.

Argentine maestro Lo Celso then added a second, finishing well with the outside of his foot from a Harry Kane through ball.

It wasn’t the smoothest of performances from the home side, but the visitors rarely troubled Joe Hart in truth.

Mourinho appeared to suggest he wasn’t happy with his side early in the second half when he hooked Vinicius, Bale and Harry Winks as soon as his side went 1-0 up.

It seemed strange that the manager then put on big guns Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Tanguy Ndombele at that point in the game, and was seemingly a move designed to send out a message.

One man who did stay on for the full 90 minutes was Lo Celso, who put in a really good showing in the engine room.

As well as taking his goal really well, the £27 million signing (Goal) worked his socks off out of possession and looked to feed Vinicius when he was on.

Sofascore gave him an 8.9 rating, the highest of any player from either side, and had him down as winning 10 of his 18 duels, and completing 38 of his 46 passes. He also completed six out of seven dribbles and created two ‘big’ chances.
