Tottenham fans react to Gedson Fernandes cameo against Watford

Gedson Fernandes made his Tottenham debut on Saturday against Watford – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were impressed with his cameo performance.

Spurs had to settle for a 0-0 draw on their trip to Vicarage Road in the Premier League and it means they sit eight points behind the top four spots as it stands.

Jose Mourinho’s team felt the loss of injured striker Harry Kane in the final third and they are going to need to find a solution moving forward without him.

Spurs goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga was the hero with his penalty save in the second-half from Troy Deeney after Jan Vertonghen had handled the ball in the box with his block.

Meanwhile, Erik Lamela was denied a stoppage time winner by a block on the line and goal-line technology showed it to be the smallest of margins.

Mourinho decided to throw January signing Fernandes onto the pitch late on for his first Spurs appearance since he joined on an 18-month loan from Benfica.

The Portuguese midfielder was introduced to the action in the 80th minute from the bench for his first taste of the Premier League.

He didn’t have much time to make an impact, but did make a few bursts forward into the final third and Spurs need more goals injected into their team.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media reacted to Fernandes’ small cameo against Watford.
