Tottenham booked their place in the Champions League final last night with a staggering 3-2 comeback win over Ajax in Amsterdam.
Lucas Moura’s second half hat-trick, including a stoppage time winner, sealed the victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who looked dead and buried at half-time when they went in 3-0 down on aggregate.
But Jan Vertonghen, who played the game in a protective mask after suffering a facial injury in the first leg, epitomised the spirit, desire and attitude of a Spurs side who just never know when they’re beaten in the Champions League this season.
With the showpiece on June 1 in Madrid against Liverpool now looming, Pochettino will hope to have as many of his injury-hit squad available as possible.

And Vertonghen looks to have suffered an injury setback as Belgian outlet HLN released footage of him limping away from the stadium last night on crutches and with his right leg in a protective boot.
It remains to be seen how serious the injury proves to be but after a season when their tired squad has been beset by injury, some Spurs fans have already started to panic…
