Dele Alli was used in a deeper midfield role by Mauricio Pochettino on Wednesday night as Tottenham earned a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace – but Spurs fans were not particularly impressed.
The 22-year-old has only recently returned to action following a thigh injury. It saw him miss six Premier League matches and both legs against Borussia Dortmund, but he is now back in action.
It is a case of getting back up to speed for Alli. But the 35-time England international still looks somewhat off the pace, even if he is playing at the base of the midfield where speed is perhaps not as important.

Second-half goals from Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen saw Spurs earn all three points and end a run of five league games without a win. It was the perfect start at the new stadium.
But for Alli, it was another frustrating performance in which he did little to affect the game. He played alongside Moussa Sissoko, and the Frenchman was head and shoulders above the £5million (BBC) signing from MK Dons.
Tottenham fans took to Twitter to discuss Alli’s display against Roy Hodgson’s side, and many questioned why he is not performing to the level Spurs fans have come to expect.
