Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the performance of Ben Davies in yesterday’s Premier League victory over Aston Villa.
The full-back was featuring for the first time since November having been out with ankle ligament damage.
The Wales international has missed the club’s last 18 matches in all competitions, with Jose Mourinho turning to youngster Japhet Tanganga in recent weeks to deputise.
Davies stepped up his recovery over the winter break while most of his teammates were resting up in more exotic locations, and that allowed him to come straight into the starting XI against Villa.
Spurs may have conceded two goals, but Davies produced a strong performance on his return.
According to @TheSpursWeb, the full-back completed 82% of his passes, won 12 duels, made five clearances, five blocks and two interceptions, and also blocked three shots.
It was an efficient performance from the 26-year-old, who will surely have given Mourinho a big headache going forwards.
The Portuguese has become a big fan of youngster Tanganga, but Davies undoubtedly provided a huge reminder of his quality.

Special mention to Ben Davies today. A great comeback today from injury. 2 important clearances in the first half and he adds balance to our defence. Hopefully will be an important player in a successful end to the Season. pic.twitter.com/skSFulQM8E

Good to see Davies back. First game in a long time, but he’s been underrated over the years imo
