A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Matt Doherty after the defender’s display in their Premier League win over Norwich City on Sunday.
Spurs fans would have been forgiven for wondering whether the 29-year-old had already made his final appearance for the club. He was one of those who got just 53 minutes in the ill-fated Europa Conference League clash with Mura last month.

And he had not featured in the top flight since Antonio Conte’s first game in the competition. However, with Japhet Tanganga having some issues dealing with Brandon Williams, Doherty was given his chance against the Canaries.
The Republic of Ireland international came on with 28 minutes remaining. And he went on to produce an impressive display, with plenty of fans feeling that his introduction proved to be pivotal in wrestling the momentum back.
Tottenham scored their second within five minutes of his introduction. The corner that led to Davinson Sanchez’s goal came after his pass to Harry Kane.

There is already evidence that Conte is having a significant impact on a number of players. Ben Davies has been a revelation in the left centre-back position, for example.
And there is a belief that Doherty may be one who develops into a different player under the Italian. He had been written off by many after struggling under Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espírito Santo.
