Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Gedson Fernandes’s FA Cup display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Gedson Fernandes’s performance in Spurs’ FA Cup tie with Norwich City on Wednesday.

Spurs have been knocked out of the FA Cup after being taken to penalties by the Canaries. Jan Vertonghen had put the home side in front during the first-half, but Michel Vorm conceded late on in the 90 minutes to take the game to extra-time.

The night was to end in disappointing fashion for Gedson. His tame penalty was comfortably saved by Tim Krul and decided the contest.

But before the spot kick, the prospect had really caught the eye for Spurs.

Gedson was brought on nine minutes into the second-half. And he impressed plenty of supporters with the impact that he made while on the pitch.

Whoscored.com shows that he completed five of the six dribbles he attempted. Remarkably, the next most prolific player on the pitch managed just two.

He also made two successful challenges. Lucas Moura and Oliver Skipp were the only Tottenham players to manage more.

And a number of Tottenham fans insisted that they were extremely happy with what they saw from the January signing.

Some suggested that he had been amazing, while one supporter even claimed that he was the best player on the pitch. It was a tough night for Spurs, but that is still high praise.

It should be noted that there were also a number of fans who were less convinced by Gedson’s performance. Some were not happy with the quality that he provided. And there is bound to be a lot of disappointment after his penalty was saved.

But it does appear that the large majority were very pleased with the youngster’s contribution during the 120 minutes of action.
