Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Davinson Sanchez’s display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Davinson Sanchez’s performance during the club’s FA Cup win over Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

Goals from Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela put Spurs 2-0 up early on. But Boro would get one back towards the end of the second-half to make things a little less comfortable.

The result means that Tottenham are still looking for only their second clean sheet since Mourinho took charge. And it appears that some of the blame for some questionable defending is largely being placed on Sanchez.

The Colombian went into the tie off the back of an impressive display against Liverpool. But it seems that he was unable to replicate that sort of performance in their latest fixture.

Whoscored.com shows that he was actually tidy in possession, with 62 of his 65 passes finding a teammate. No player who managed more than 10 passes during the tie boasted a better success rate.

However, plenty of Spurs fans were not happy with the centre-back’s display against Boro. They have suggested that he was shaky throughout and completely outshone by Japhet Tanganga.

The frustration with Sanchez appears to be to do with his capability to produce colossal performances. It is proving difficult to know which version of the centre-back is going to turn up for each game.

And some are clearly convinced that the 23-year-old should be doing a lot better with more than 100 appearances for the club under his belt.

Here is what some of the Tottenham supporters made of his performance…
