A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from Football London over the weekend suggesting that Spurs hold a strong interest in Southampton striker Danny Ings.

Tottenham supporters will be hoping to see plenty of activity in the market following the opening day of the season. Jose Mourinho’s men were extremely poor as they were beaten 1-0 by Everton.

The one positive that could potentially come from the result is that Spurs still have time to make signings and improve their squad.

Unfortunately however, it appears that one of their key targets is amongst the least likely to make the move to North London this summer.

According to Football London, Spurs hold a strong interest in Ings. However, Tottenham are not optimistic that there is scope for a deal to be done due to his potential asking price.

There is also a sense that it would be unlikely that he would be interested as any striker coming in will probably have to settle for an understudy role.

‘No chance’

In truth, it is probably one of the last rumours Spurs fans wanted to hear about following their defeat to Everton.

Many rate Ings – who earns £65,000-a-week, according to the Daily Mail – highly and believe that he would be an outstanding signing. However, they are under no illusions that the chances of a deal being agreed are slim at best.

Tottenham face a tough task trying to sign a new striker this summer. Being linked with players such as Ings is doing their cause few favours.

Here is how some of the fans have reacted to the report…
