Tottenham fans react on Twitter as club reportedly bid for Leeds United star

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an offer for Leeds United’s £30m-rated midfielder Kalvin Phillips amid the player’s contract uncertainty – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.

The Mirror have claimed that Tottenham want the 23-year-old, and have launched an offer for the Leeds ace. Phillips was the lynchpin of Marcelo Bielsa’s new-look Leeds side that almost gained promotion last campaign.

Sitting in between defence and midfield, Phillips acted as a quarterback. His intricate array of passing and ability to dictate the tempo of play saw him earn a place in the Championship team of the year.

Leeds looked to offer Phillips a new deal at the end of the season but talks are ongoing, with the midfielder said to be interesting Spurs, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle. Villa have tabled an £11million offer.

But it is believed Leeds want as much as £30million for Phillips, who is just another example of Leeds’ academy producing another gem – following the likes of Lewis Cook, Fabian Delph, James Milner and of course, Danny Rose.

Leeds fans took to Twitter on Friday after hearing of Tottenham’s reported interest in Phillips and some believe he would be a good signing for Spurs, while others criticised the £30m price tag.
