Christian Eriksen made his debut for Inter Milan on Wednesday evening in the Coppa Italia as he came off the bench to help his new side beat Fiorentina – but Tottenham fans have reacted hilariously to a clip of the Dane in action.
Eriksen, 27, finally ended a long-winded saga regarding his Tottenham future by joining Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan for a reported £17million this week. His Spurs contract was due to expire at the end of the 2019-20 season.
It ended a six-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham, where Eriksen played 305 times for the north London club – scoring 69 goals and creating another 89 assists. It is believed he is earning more than £300,000 a week at the San Siro.
Goals from Antonio Candreva and Nicolo Barella – either side of a Martin Caceres equaliser – saw Inter claim a place in the last four. But a clip of Eriksen has appeared on Twitter, as he took a free-kick moments after coming on – only to hit the first man.
Reports claimed that Wednesday’s Cup game against Fioretina would come too early for Eriksen, but the Denmark international was included in the side. Inter progressed into the semi-final with a 2-1 win over La Viola.
Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the clip of Eriksen taking the free-kick, moments after the ex-Ajax man replaced Manchester United loanee Alexis Sanchez. Spurs supporters reacted hilariously to Eriksen failing to beat the first man.
