A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to social media to react to Danny Rose’s performance for England against Switzerland on Tuesday.
The Three Lions put in an uninspiring display and ground out a 1-0 win thanks to a Marcus Rashford goal at the King Power Stadium.
Gareth Southgate’s side managed to avoid a fourth straight defeat with the result.
England, of course, lost to Spain 2-1 last week, and against Belgium and Croatia at the World Cup.
Against the Swiss, England were sloppy in possession and shaky at the back at times, which was disappointing to see given recent progress and the home advantage.
Jack Butland and James Tarkowski showed signs of nerves, and there was a lack of a foothold in central midfield.
Danny Rose a shining light
It was not a stellar performance from England but one man who can hold his head high is Tottenham full-back Rose.
He stood out for the home side operating as a left wing-back, and looked quite dangerous on the attack.
Where arguably every other England player produced an average performance, Rose was the man who drew the most attention for positive reasons.
It was great to see him have a good game given the player’s recent injury problems and battle with mental health.
It felt as though this could perhaps be the turning point for the player.
Maybe he will break back into the Tottenham team again soon.
Great news for Tottenham
Rose’s performance against Switzerland, and also against Spain when he came on, was very encouraging.
Tottenham weren’t able to call on him for most of last season, but the player appears to be back and ready to fight for his place.
Ben Davies has been an excellent deputy, and Rose’s return to some form is great news for them going forwards – arguably Spurs have the best pair of left-backs in the Premier League on paper.
Some Tottenham fans took to social media to share their thoughts about Rose’s display against Switzerland:
Let’s be clear that if Danny Rose can now rediscover his form of the 2015/16 season in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.

I think Rose still got it. Just a matter of match sharpness and game time. Patience

Needs to be given a run in the team.

Rose to start against Liverpool. Davies to be benched.

Man’s gotta keep that energy for Spurs

I appreciate i’m extremely bias with Danny Rose but come on. You make him your first choice and he plays every week. He’s not going to get back to what we know he’s capable of if he’s playing a bit part.

Anyone but Davies at this point, Rose has has his demons but they’re only getting worse sat on the bench

Agree entirely. Keep picking him and he will improve fast. Seems a lot fitter as well so crack on

So hope his fitness holds up and he can be our undisputed 1st choice LB again. If fit he’s our best FB by a distance.
