Tottenham have been in talks with Porto striker Ze Luis over the prospect of him offering cover for Harry Kane on loan, according to the Times.
But they report that the difficulty in getting a work permit for the hitman, who has 19 caps for Cape Verde, makes a swoop this month unlikely.
The Daily Mail go further, stating any potential deal for the 28-year-old is definitely off the table because it’s too hard to get a permit for him to play in England.
Spurs have already signed one player on loan from Portugal this month, Gedson Fernandes from Benfica, but it does not look like Ze Luis will be making the same trip.

Some Tottenham fans on Twitter reacted to the news and the general consensus was that they didn’t want Ze Luis to be the striker they bring in this month anyway.
There were question marks over his age and quality when compared to AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Spurs this month.
They want to see Piatek come through the door over Ze Luis, with Danny Ings also mentioned in the responses – but it would likely prove difficult to prize away a man who is so vital to Southampton mid-season.
