Tottenham fans react as Vinicius signs for new club
Carlos Vinicius has completed a two-year loan deal to PSV from Benfica after returning from Tottenham – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
Vinicius, 26, managed just 22 appearances for Spurs last season and clocked up 10 goals for the North London side. He also laid on three assists.
A decent record for a player that was firmly second choice behind Harry Kane. But Tottenham chose not to sign the uncapped Brazilian striker.
Having engineered a loan-to-buy option in the summer of 2020, Spurs had the choice to get him permanently for an enormous £40million.
However, they chose not to activate that – or even get him on loan again. Instead, he has gone to PSV – where he will join on loan until June 2023.
Vinicius to PSV: What have Tottenham fans said on Twitter?
Despite his 24 goals and 13 assists in 50 appearances for Benfica, the Portuguese side have allowed the Brazilian to leave on loan again.
He joins PSV, who will be fighting for the Eredivisie title this season. Meanwhile, Tottenham failed to bring in a new striker as Kane cover.
Instead, Tottenham have been left with youngster Dane Scarlett as an option to cover for Kane – while Son Heung-min can also play up top.
Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Vinicius has joined PSV – and many believe the club should have gone in for him.
BuliNews claimed earlier this summer that Vinicius is rated at £21.5million – with Eintracht Frankfurt previously keen.
