Mick McCarthy has included Troy Parrott in his 39-man provisional Republic of Ireland squad.
The Republic of Ireland have games coming up against Denmark and New Zealand and Parrott is in the squad. The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has been rewarded for his fine form in youth team football.
Parrott is among 12 strikers in the squad so he might not make the final cut. But it shows just how highly McCarthy rates him. After scoring goals for fun for Tottenham’s youth teams and the Republic of Ireland U21 side, he could make his senior debut.

The 17-year-old made his Tottenham first-team debut earlier this season after impressing in the academy. Parrott started in the EFL Cup loss against Colchester United, which ended 0-0 before penalty disappointment.
After Parrott was named in the squad for the Boys in Green, Tottenham fans took to Twitter. Quite a lot of Spurs fans want to see Parrott given more chances in the first-team. With Mauricio Pochettino’s men struggling, he could get a call-up soon.
Here are some tweets reacting to his senior Irish call-up.
