Tottenham fans react as they are linked with Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling

Tottenham have links connecting them with Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded to claim they’d rather avoid signing him.

The Sun reports that Man City could look to offer Sterling, along with his teammate Gabriel Jesus, in a part-exchange deal to try sign Spurs striker Harry Kane.

Pep Guardiola’s side will reportedly grant Sterling’s exit in this summer’s transfer window.

Sterling, who earns £300,000-a-week (Spotrac), has had an intriguing 2020/21 season.

The rapid left-winger scored 14 goals and made 12 assists in 49 games across all competitions. However, has fallen out of Pep Guardiola’s best XI in the last months and has received some stick.

Tottenham fans not behind part-exchange deal involving Raheem Sterling

Sterling, 26, is now due to join the England squad ahead of Euro 2020.

The wide player goes into it with mixed form, but can take heart from the fact he’s usually crucial for the Three Lions squad.

Despite previous success, a selection of Spurs fans on social media don’t buy into the idea of signing Sterling.

He’s hit double digits for goals in the last four consecutive Premier League seasons. However, there is a feeling in the fanbase that he’s not what they need.

It seems a bid odd he’s received so much criticism given his CV.

Firstly, he’s got a record that stacks up to most wingers in the Premier League during the last five years. Secondly, he’s shown top performances in the past in domestic and European competitions. Thirdly, and most importantly, he’s guaranteed goals each season.

If Kane exits, there will be a colossal job on to find a replacement.
