Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to keep Sergio Reguilon this summer despite Real Madrid boasting a buyback clause because Zinedine Zidane has taken a liking to a Madrid teenager – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.

Reguilon, 24, joined Tottenham from Zidane’s Madrid last summer in a double transfer that also saw Gareth Bale swap Spain for North London on loan. Reguilon is believed to have cost Spurs a fee in the region of £28million.

Football London reported soon after that Reguilon has a clause in his contract that could see the Spain international return to Real Madrid either the summer of 2021 or 2022. Madrid would have to spend in the region of £43million.

However, it appears that the clause in Reguilon’s contract will be ignored. Defensa Central claim that Zidane has taken a shine to Miguel Gutierrez – a 19-year-old currently shining in Raul’s Castilla side. It has convinced Zidane.

It has seen the Frenchman decide to ignore bringing Reguilon back to Madrid and instead place his faith in Gutierrez as cover for Marcelo. David Alaba is also expected to join Real Madrid this summer, meaning Reguilon will stay put.

Tottenham fans reacted to the reports that Reguilon is staying put with utter delight, as they have been impressed with the left-back since he arrived at the club from Madrid. One fan simply put “perfect”.
